Nectaron

aroma · New Zealand

New Zealand premium aroma hop bred by Plant & Food Research. Exceptional tropical fruit intensity — pineapple, passionfruit, and peach dominate. One of the highest-impact NZ varieties available. Very high levels of thiol precursors make it particularly effective with thiol-active yeasts. Released commercially in 2019.

About

A New Zealand triploid aroma variety (brand HORT4337) developed by Plant & Food Research over 17 years, and a full sister to Waimea. It delivers intense tropical characters of pineapple and passionfruit alongside stone fruit and grapefruit, with very high oil content. Best used late or as a dry hop for maximum tropical expression, it has quickly become a cornerstone of modern NZ-style IPA.
