About

Gladfield made American Ale Malt for brewers who find their standard Ale Malt too malty and toasted for certain styles. Plump, low-protein autumn barley is given a long, cool germination and then kilned to a special recipe that holds a typical ale colour while keeping the flavour cleaner and less toasted. The result is a vibrant, clean base with a solid but hop-friendly malt profile — ideal for American IPAs and pale ales where the hops should lead.

Usage

Use as the base malt up to 100% of the grist. Its high diastatic power (200 WK) easily converts specialty malts and adjuncts. Clean and neutral, it lets hop character dominate — the natural choice for West Coast and hazy IPAs.
