The darkest of Weyermann's standard (husked) Carafa roasted malts. Deep coffee and dark-chocolate roast with the colour to turn a beer jet black. Unlike the dehusked 'Special' Carafa malts, the husk is retained, so it carries a firmer roast bite — useful when you want assertive dark character rather than smooth colour-only adjustment. The classic colour-and-roast malt for Schwarzbier, dark lagers, and Black IPA.

Usage
No diastatic power; mash with a base malt. Use up to ~10%: small additions for colour with a touch of roast, more for genuine coffee and dark-chocolate character. For colour without bitterness, reach for the dehusked Carafa Special malts instead.
